Provides separate accommodation for both male and female students in Years 7 to 12. Students have access to the following:
A study room which contains a well stocked library with school texts and a range of reference books;
A computer room with computers to linked to the school system, internet and intranet and e-mail;
A games library with a large collection of board, social and educational games and activities;
Close proximity to sporting facilities including netball, soccer, football, rowing, tennis Tai chi, kick boxing, basketball, and a heated 25metre indoor pool;
A television/relaxation area available of an evening after the evening meal and completion of homework;
The local CBD is within walking distance;
A full range of medical, dental and hospital services;
Supervisory staff (both male and female) are in attendance at all times.
Students are encouraged to participate in sport and other community activities to broaden their social contact and experience whilst in accommodation. Blackwood House has a commuter bus which is in constant use around Sale after hours.
Students are also provided with copies of daily and weekly newspapers.
Special Functions
Throughout the year a variety of functions are held for or are available to residents at Blackwood House, these include:
a Presentation Ball for Year 11 Students;
a Valedictory Dinner for Year 12 residents;
reunions for past students;
end of term social activities including cinema evenings and ten pin bowling.
