House Athletics Carnival
As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter, this week I will deliver our House Athletics Carnival results. All houses performed extremely well with the final point scores being very close. Our winning house for 2013 was Blundell Bogong. House Leaders Lachlan Bush, Lucy Deller, Edward Guinness, and Priyanka Joshi proudly accepted the trophy on behalf of their house and thanked all participating houses, teachers, parents and Miss Emma Streeter. Congratulations Blundell Bogong. To date Blundell Bogong have won our House Swimming Carnival and our House Athletics Carnival. Cranswick Dargo, Wellington Binks and Tisdall Hotham get your running shoes on and start preparing for our House Cross Country Carnival on Friday 24 May, let’s see if you can break Wellington Binks 2 year winning streak.

GRIP Student Leadership Conference
Our Year 5 and 6 students attended the GRIP Student Leadership Conference on Tuesday in Sale. It is a unique conference in that it concentrates specifically on training student leaders for their role as school leaders. The style, topics, and content of the conference all focused on what the students can do right now. Their goal is that our student leaders would leave the conference with a clear vision, a solid understanding and dozens of ideas for their time as a leader.

Uniform Matters Review
Please remember to give feedback concerning the uniform review that Jan Henry mentioned in our newsletter. She would be grateful for as much feedback as possible. Submissions will be accepted until the end of May and should be submitted by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Mother’s Day Breakfast and Fellowship
Following the invitation to our Mother’s Day Breakfast next Friday 10 May, I wanted to let you know of some changes to the way this morning will run. This event will now take place in and around the hall in the James Beard Centre so that students will be able to enjoy breakfast together with their mums or special friends. Other arrangements, such as Fellowship following, will remain unchanged.

Please be reminded that it is important that you reply to this event for catering purposes by Monday 6 May, noting if there are any special dietary requirements. We look forward to a happy morning celebrating the mothers in our school community.

Olive Harvest Family Day
Thank you to Bairnsdale’s Parents and Friends who organised this wonderful family event last Saturday in Metung. It was a fabulous country family day; everyone had a wonderful time and the weather was perfect. A special thank you must go Sally Mitchell, our campus P and F Executive member for the countless hours of planning, organising and coordinating leading up to this event Thank you to the Guinness family who provided their property for this event and spent many hours preparing it, with the assistance of other school families. Thank you to all families and friends who assisted in so many ways, or simply came out to share the delightful day with us.

Interschool Golf results
Gippsland Grammar was represented at the interschool golf last Friday by Jack Simmons, Jackson Logan, Piper Stubbs and Jasper Stubbs. They played at the Lakes Entrance course in great conditions. Piper won the girls section, Jackson came second in the boys, and Jasper shot a super 33 (which was the short course record) to win the tournament. Jack also played extremely well for his first tournament. Piper, Jackson and Jasper will now progress to play in the Regional competition in Sale in June.

Jack Simmons shares his account of the day…
On Friday 26 April Piper, Jackson, Jasper and myself competed in the Interschool Golf Day at Lakes Entrance Golf Club. A fun day was had by all. I scored 78 placing 16th overall.
